TGIFF(F)! Thank goodness it’s Friday and February (finally). It sounds like in the blogging world that I was not the only person having a rough month/week/day recently, so here’s to a new month and maybe some good news here and there.
Do you watch Jeopardy? If you are a true dork like me, and not a hipster-glasses dorkalike, then you know the category of “Potpourri” means a hodgepodge of any and everything. It’s the one-size-fits-most group. Once upon a time, when I was a much younger dorklet, I actually thought the category was about potpourri (pronounced pot-purry), the stuff with the dried rose petals, wood shavings and pine cones in my grandma’s guest bathroom.
So, with the new month and my commitment to blog every day now (see the cute “official” badge on the right sidebar…somewhere), I am trying to organize my blog thoughts. Countdown to Monday never made any sense and will be replaced by this general Friday post. One day taken care of.
Monday will likely be makeup/manicure day. I paint my own nails every single week unless I am going to be off work. And while I know there are a lot of blogs out there that have access to cooler polishes, decent cameras and lighting and are dedicated to that as a theme, I just like posting these pics. I said in a post before that in my lack of artistic ability, I try to express myself through color, including blue nails, purple eyeshadow or hot pink lip gloss. What better way for me to start my week than showing off my unprofessional, but colorful, cosmetic skills. Two down.
Skipping to Wednesday, I am going to stick with my Wordless Wednesdays, which will link to the same-named blog. As an aside, I get everyone can do what they want on their blog, but for some I think the “wordless” part of Wordless Wednesday is viewed as subjective. Whatever floats your boat, I just found it amusing. Three out of seven.
That leaves Tuesdays, Thursdays and the weekends. Depending on how I feel, I will either free-write or use the daily prompts through WordPress or over at BlogHer for their National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo***). Some days, I might post more than once depending on how I feel about the prompts being offered. Certain ideas get me thinking more creatively than others, to the point where I have to seize the opportunity and write. How unique of me, right?
BlogHer usually sticks to themes for the their monthly challenges and this month is about “Love and Sex”. What are those, ha ha? Just kidding. Kind of.
Actually, given my current lack of romance I am interested to see what the prompts will be for this theme and what my first reaction will be. Will I be sentimental or bitter? I do promise, much like I try my best not to make this the bulimia 24/7 zone, I will do the same to try not make this the angry single fat girl rant page (note, I said TRY). What I am afraid of is that the prompts will read like book club discussion points for those “controversial” Fifty Shades of Vanilla-Bondage books. Even so, I guess the bright side is more opportunity for writing snarky comments or getting in touch with my inner romantic.
That might be it for now. This week we have had weather ranging from ice over the weekend, to 75 degrees yesterday to 40 something tomorrow.
***Yes, I still feel this way about the whole NaBloPoMo thing, but it won’t stop me from posting:
